Heading towards Mouresi and Damouchari, 55km from Volos you come to the enchanting fishing village of Agios Ioannis (St John). This very traditional village has a very impressive little harbor lined with everything from large fishing boats and small ‘caiques’ to exclusive yachts and plush motorboats, making the seaside resort the most cosmopolitan in the area. In keeping with this there are many high quality hotels, shops and restaurants lining the sandy beach that fringes the village.

The beach itself has thick, white sand and pebbles with emerald, crystal clear waters and is one of the award winning beaches in Pelion of the prestigious Blue Flag for cleanliness.

The hotels and rented accommodation available have an array of styles and amenities for every type of holidaymaker, and the restaurants offer fresh fish from the area and an array of traditional dishes and local Pelion fare.

The inviting clear emerald and turquoise waters tempt visitors to dive into the cool waters, or to laze on the white sands of the beach, whilst the more romantic will be drawn to watch the colorful spectacle at sunrise as the morning sun rises out of the Aegean Sea.

Agios Ioannis was always a pioneer for tourists seeking alternatives as from 1924 HAN set up the first campsite of its kind in Greece in this unique location. The site spans 17.299sqm as is set 100m back from the sea amongst an array of plane trees offering natural shade for the campers.

Next to the campsite is the small Monastery of Agios Ioannis (St John) and every year on June 24th the village revives the customary feast for Agios Ioannis of Klidonia.

The village of Agios Ioannis has the added plus of an advantageous location in between the two gorgeous beaches of Papa Nero panorama icon and Plaka. panorama icon

As with the main beach, these two are a mixture of thick sand and pebbles with clear waters and are particularly good for anyone wanting to explore the underwater world with a snorkel.

There is a wide range of tourist accommodation in Agios Ioannis on offer to visitors looking to get the best out of their stay, with a wide variety of price ranges to satisfy all budgets, including hotels, furnished apartments, pensions, studios and rented rooms.

There is also a large range of places for eating, drinking and entertainment with café bars, tavernas, restaurants, all with a high standard of service and good use of local produce.
