The main characteristic of Milopotamos is the huge rock in the sea with a large hole in the middle separating the two beaches on either side, which can be used by visitors to access both beaches. Situated 60km from Volos and 8km from Tsagarada the road is all tarmac and leads to an area with easy parking.
There are steps going down to the rocky shore and the beach below, which, when you arrive, has large pebbles and turquoise clear water. It has repeatedly been award the prestigious Blue Flag award for cleanliness.
On the first part of the beach there is a coffee bar and on the other near the parking the taverna ‘Angelika’ operates.
The Athletic Climbing clubs uses the rocks backing the beach for climbing groups, the terrain being perfect for this; and after what better than a swim on the lovely beach below.
Karabostasia or Karavotsakotia
The well-known beach of Karavostasia or Karavotsakotia, is next to Milopotamos and is named as to give emphasis on how inaccessible the Aegean Sea can be when the wind comes up and the sea roars.
On the coastal hill above there is a small medieval castle indicating the area was inhabited as far back as ancient times
