The beach of Liri is found 3km from Mortia, at the foot of this homonymous Pelion settlement.
Located 10km from Promiri and 65km from Volos, it was founded by the survivors of the neighboring ‘Promiri’ after the massacre of its inhabitants.
This beach has a mixture of sand, stones and shingle and the water is clear and aquamarine. There are no facilities on the beach; umbrellas or sunbeds, so take essentials as it is really worth visiting.
Recommended for alternative tourism there are many footpaths for hikers that have been opened up by a local group called ‘Friends of the Southern Pelion Cobbled Roads.’
Liri beach does however offer water sports such as surfing kayaking etc and the beach is know for its underground streams.
If you find yourself in Lyres on the 23rd August you will be able to visit the festival organized in honour of the Virgin Mary, a very pleasurable evening to those who attend.
You can enjoy your stay in the village by choosing one of the rented rooms or apartments that are on offer, and of course eating in the local taverna.
